Jesus Alonso-Zarate received his M. Sc. and Ph. D degrees in Telecommunication Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC, Spain) in March 2004 and February 2009, respectively. He is now with the CTTC and holds a Research Associate position within the Intelligent Energy Area, led by Dr. Mischa Dohler. He has published more than 75 scientific technical papers in renowned international journals and international conferences related to wireless communications. He actively participates in both competitive public funded and industrial research projects. He is currently leading the Spanish research project CO2GREEN focused on the study of cooperative and cognitive techniques to improve the energy efficiency of wireless communications. He is member of the IEEE ComSoc CSIM Technical Committee (Communication Systems Integration and Modelling) and works as reviewer and chair for numerous international conferences. He is part of the Editorial Board of the IET Wireless Sensor Systems Journal and supervises a number of undergraduate and Phd Students. Since 2010, he has been co-speaking with Dr. Mischa Dohler giving various invited talks and tutorials in conferences related to Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications for smart grids and smart cities.
